Dominik Livaković (31) is set to move from Fenerbahçe to Barcelona, but the Croatian international will not play for the Catalan club this season. Barcelona planned to loan him for one year and sign him in the summer of 2027, when Wojciechu Szczesny's contract will expire. The club initially considered Livaković as a potential goalkeeper for the 2027/28 season, as he could take Szczesny's place in case of injury to Joan García.

How the Agreement Formed?

Barcelona quickly concluded that it needed to find a goalkeeper for 2027, and manager Andy Bara proposed Livaković. The club checked his profile and concluded it matched their needs. Barcelona saw in him a goalkeeper who could play 10–15 matches in the season, considering additional competitions like Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup. After a positive response from the club's technical department, they started the transfer with Fenerbahçe.

Dinamo's Involvement and the Agreement

Since Barcelona didn't need Livaković before 2027, Dinamo proposed the possibility of a loan. The Blues wanted to bring back the Croatian international to Maksimir, with a model where Barcelona buys Livaković from Fenerbahçe and immediately loans him to Dinamo for one year. An oral agreement was reached with all three parties, planning for Livaković to play for Dinamo one season and join Barcelona in the summer of 2027.

The Return is Now Very Unlikely

Dinamo changed its stance and requested a two-year loan, conflicting with Barcelona's plan. The Catalans did not accept the two-year model, as they would get Livaković only in the summer of 2028, a year later than planned. A return to Maksimir is not entirely impossible, but Dinamo must change its decision and accept the original model.
