Franjo Ivanovic: Benfica or Betis?
Benfica is willing to soften its demands in negotiations with Franjo Ivanovic, reports Portuguese newspaper Record. The Lisbon club initially insisted on selling the Croatian striker but is now open to a loan deal with an option to buy. Ivanovic was not fit for Benfica's match against Hearts in Europa League qualifying, which further suggests he might leave.
Sevilla Daily writes that Ivanovic prefers joining Betis, although he has already rejected an offer from Hull City. Besides Betis, Lazio is also interested in him, but the Roman club cannot afford to pay the compensation due to financial constraints.
Benfica wants to recoup part of its investment of 22.5 million euros made last year and would include an option to buy for around 25 million euros if Ivanovic joins on loan. Betis hopes to finalize a more favorable deal by the end of the transfer window, but it seems that the long-standing saga of Ivanovic's transfer is nearing its conclusion.
