Robert Mudražija has refused to leave GNK Dinamo Zagreb on loan despite the club's wishes. The midfielder, who returned to his boyhood club last summer, has decided to stay and fight for his place in coach Marijo Kovačević's team.

Dinamo currently sits third in the HNL with 10 points from four matches, and they face a tough away fixture against second-placed NK Osijek in the next round. The Blues have scored 11 goals this season, conceded only three, and hold a positive goal difference of eight. However, they trail leaders NK Varazdin by three points.

The Dinamo management believes a loan spell would benefit Robert Mudražija by providing him with more playing time. The most concrete talks were held with Slaven Belupo, with a move to the Second Croatian Football League also being an option. Mudražija joined Dinamo last summer for a fee of approximately 500,000 euros. Upon signing, he stated it was a "return home," not a transfer.

The player was born in Zagreb and began his football career in Dinamo's academy at the age of eight. After leaving the youth setup, he played for several Croatian and foreign clubs before returning to Maksimir. During his time at Lokomotiva, he scored 14 goals in the Second HNL and 15 across all competitions.

Robert Mudražija has clearly expressed his desire to remain at Dinamo. He wants to prove his worth to coach Kovačević and contribute to the team for the remainder of the season. He scored his first goal for Dinamo in a 3:1 victory against Varazdin.

Given the current squad depth and competition for places in his position, earning minutes will be a challenge. However, Mudražija has shown he is ready to face it. His decision reflects a strong emotional bond with the club where he grew up.

Dinamo is preparing for an important away match against NK Osijek on September 12, 2026. It will be a stern test for a team looking to close the gap at the top of the table. The current standings show the title race is still wide open, and every point will be vital in the pursuit of the championship.

Robert Mudražija's decision to stay alters the club's plans for the player. Instead of seeking a new loan destination, Dinamo must now find a way to use his qualities within the existing squad. Multiple clubs had expressed interest in the player, but it is now clear he will remain at Maksimir at least until the next transfer window. GNK Dinamo Zagreb's next fixture is away to NK Osijek on Sunday, September 12.
