Two days remain until the first play-off match of UEFA Champions League between Dinamo and the Norwegian club Viking. 'Modri' will play on Maksimir with the aim of winning against Viking, which would secure an advantage for the return match a week later. Recall that Dinamo has selected the play-off match against Kauno Žalgiris with a 7-1 aggregate score.

The upcoming match on Tuesday (21:00) has been commented on by former Dinamo coach Nenad Bjelica who also coached European matches for the club. In the summer of 2019, Dinamo played against Rosenborg and won 2-0 in the same phase of the competition.

  • This was personally very significant for me because last year we failed against Young Boys. It was a normal next step in the development of the team that played in Europe the previous season and then chose the UEFA Champions League - Bjelica reminisced to Silvij Škrlec for Tportal.

Former Dinamo coach highlighted that the upcoming match is a tough one for the Zagreb team and pointed out who he considers the favorite.

  • This is practically an even match. We can say that Dinamo is a slight favorite. But Viking is a very serious team. They play in a similar formation as Dinamo, in 4-3-3. They have wings with similar characteristics to Dinamo's, and their central defender Peter Christiansen has a profile similar to Belja.

When asked who he would single out from the Norwegian team, he was quite clear in his answer:

  • Their best player in my opinion is Zlatko Tripić. He executes passes, has a good understanding of the game, has talent, and I truly believe he could play in any Croatian club. He is very unpredictable - concluded Bjelica.
