GNK Dinamo Zagreb is inviting its supporters to a public forum about the new stadium. Club president Zvonimir Boban will present the winning architectural design and discuss it with all attendees.
The forum is scheduled for next week. Boban stressed the goal is to get a structure that deeply reflects the urban culture of Zagreb while respecting the history and tradition of the old Maksimir. "A gigantic cruise ship will not sail into Maksimir, nor will some glowing flying brothel land there," Boban said. "We will get a structure that deeply depicts the urban culture of this city."
The new stadium, to be built on the existing site, was designed by the Italian architectural studio VG13 Architects Studio Associato. The project is led by architects Tommasa Fantini and Alberto Rossi, who worked with five collaborators. Boban described the project as a "futuristic Maksimir", a strong and powerful building that, he said, will inspire respect and fear in opposing teams and create incredible energy.
The decision to hold the forum comes after the public reacted very negatively to the winning design. Dinamo's management wants to communicate directly with fans and give them a chance to voice their opinions and questions. This step shows the club wants to protect its identity and build something that truly belongs to the city and its supporters.
The club currently leads the Croatian Football League with 16 points from seven games, with the next challenge an away match against second-placed Hajduk on 10 October. Check the full schedule on our fixtures page and the current standings.
Boban concluded that this is a key moment for the club's future, and the public discussion is the first step in a process that will take years. Dinamo will continue working on the project details after hearing the voices from the forum.
