GNK Dinamo Zagreb will play their Croatian Cup round of 16 match three days before the top-of-the-table derby against Hajduk Split. The fixture against Vukovar 1991 has been moved to Wednesday, 7 November, with a 4 PM kick-off at the stadium in Borovo naselje.
The Competition Committee of the Croatian Football Federation officially confirmed the new date. The official confirmation states that the clubs' agreement to play the match on the new date has been confirmed.
How the change helps Dinamo
This rescheduling has direct consequences for the availability of a key player. Josip Mišić received a red card in the last league match against Lokomotiva. The final decision on a potential suspension is not yet known, but if he receives a one-match ban, it is now possible he could serve it in the cup match against Vukovar. That would free him to play in the derby against Hajduk, scheduled for Sunday, 10 October.
Dinamo enters this key part of the season as the HNL leaders. The last meeting between these two great rivals ended in a win for Dinamo in Split last March.
In the Cup, Dinamo reached the round of 16 without major issues, following a convincing win against Bedem Ivankovo in the previous round. Their opponent, Vukovar 1991, qualified by beating Cibalia. Dinamo will approach this match with confidence, especially after their last win over Lokomotiva, in which Dario Beljo scored two goals.
The new date for the cup match gives Dinamo's coaching staff more room for planning and rotation in March, immediately before one of the season's most important fixtures.
