Fans have clearly expressed the opinion that Hajduk Split conducted a better summer transfer window than GNK Dinamo Zagreb. The magazine Index.hr Sport published the results of a survey involving over 5,000 readers, with a convincing 73 percent favouring the Split club.
Index.hr Sport conducted a poll among its readers asking which club did better business during the summer transfer window. The results were decisive. "A full 73 percent of votes went to Hajduk, while 27 percent of readers believed Dinamo made a better deal," reported Index.hr Sport this week. The Croatian summer transfer window runs until September 7, and both clubs have already submitted their player lists to UEFA for the group stages of European competitions.
GNK Dinamo Zagreb brought back familiar faces Mislav Oršić and Luka Ivanušec to Maksimir. Alongside them, the Blues signed Stjepan Radeljić, Kiril Kravcov, Dominik Kotarski, Smail Prevljak, Aleks Stojaković, Noah Nsoki, Dani Rodríguez, and Iker Almena. Known fixed transfer fees for these players amount to approximately 1.85 million euros. On the other hand, the club earned around 8 million euros from the sales of Gabriel Vidović, Monsef Bakrara, and Marko Soldo.
Hajduk Split spent only about 450,000 euros on known fixed fees. Their most high-profile arrival was Leander Dendoncker. Dennis Hadžikadunić, Etnik Brruti, Mathieu Acapandié, Alberto del Moral, and Anđelo Šutalo joined on free transfers. They strengthened their attack with loan deals for Dalisson de Almeida, Marina Šotiček, and Carlos Martín. The Split club generated significant income from departures: Rokas Pukštas moved to Middlesbrough for around 5 million euros, Niko Sigur to Toulouse for 3.1 million fixed plus bonuses, and Bruno Durdov to Górnik Zabrze for 900,000 euros plus potential add-ons. Total income from outgoings is estimated at about 9 million euros, plus bonuses and future sell-on percentages.
At the time of the poll's publication, GNK Dinamo Zagreb holds third place in the HNL table with 10 points. From four matches played, the Blues have recorded three wins and one draw, with a recent form sequence of DWWW. The club has scored 11 goals, conceded three, and has a goal difference of +8. They currently trail leaders NK Varazdin by three points. Their next challenge is an away fixture against second-placed NK Osijek on September 12, 2026. The full match schedule can be followed on our fixtures page.
Both clubs have already submitted their squads for European competitions, meaning the new reinforcements will be part of the teams in upcoming challenges. Dinamo's net transfer balance is positive, indicating financial prudence. Hajduk, on the other hand, achieved significant commercial success with relatively small investment. Both approaches will be tested in the second part of the season. Dinamo's current squad can be reviewed in detail on the squad page. The match against Osijek will be an opportunity for the new signings to prove their worth on the pitch.
