GNK Dinamo Zagreb has agreed a deal to sign Uruguayan midfielder Lautaro Ultra. The 19-year-old is already on a flight to Zagreb to complete the formalities and sign his contract.
The transfer was agreed last week. Dinamo will pay his former club, Oriental de La Paz, an initial fee of 200 thousand euros. The total compensation, including bonuses, could reach 700 thousand euros, with the Uruguayan club retaining a 10% sell-on clause. Lautaro Alejo Ultra Goro was born on May 21, 2007, in Soriano.
Dinamo has primarily brought in Ultra as a defensive midfielder, a player for the number six role. It is not yet decided whether he will immediately join the first team of coach Mario Kovačević or will first play several matches for Dinamo B in the SuperSport First NL. His arrival is part of a broader strategy to strengthen the midfield with young players this summer. Currently, according to our data on the squad page, Dinamo has 28 players in the first team, and Ultra could become the 29th.
Lautaro Ultra is a right-footed player known for good positioning, precise passing, and intense pressing work. He summarized his playing philosophy by stating, "O tiki-taki nema pregovora." He made his senior debut for Oriental at 17 and quickly became a regular. His market value is estimated at 200 thousand euros by Transfermarkt. Ultra has also featured for the Uruguayan U-18 national team, and new U-20 coach Diego Forlán included him in a wider squad for the start of a new cycle.
Ultra's arrival comes at a key point in the season. Dinamo currently sits in second place in the HNL, three points behind leaders Hajduk, and has one game in hand. The club is also preparing for the continuation of its UEFA Europa League campaign. The schedule for all upcoming matches can be found on our fixtures page. This season, according to our data, Dinamo has scored a total of 12 goals in 5 matches across all competitions.
Ultra is one of several young reinforcements Dinamo is bringing in with the aim of building a competitive squad for the future. The four-year contract he is set to sign ensures his development will be long-term linked with Maksimir. His first official chance to play could come as early as next weekend, when Dinamo visits Rudeš in the 7th round of the HNL.
